Review: GEICO has to be the best insurer, right? Also known as the Government Employees Insurance Company, GEICO is a household name thanks to a certain gecko and team of cavemen whose commercials, ads, billboards, etc. seem to be everywhere. Now owned by Berkshire Hathaway, GEICO must have the midas touch, right?
Some consumers think so but not everyone is convinced. Taking nothing away from the company, GEICO is big on over-the-phone and internet contact, leaving face to face contact to field agents who are more likely to visit you then you are to visit them. Money that would have been spent on paying for offices is used to fund GEICO's advertising campaigns which insist that if you give them fifteen minutes, they could save you fifteen percent or more. In some cases this may be true, but it isn't always so.
